Your 16:00 digest

via Telegram

  • @renaokada13:14Design

Cut one screen out of onboarding this morning. Did more than a week of polish.

  • @mayakoh14:02AI

The long-context retrieval paper is worth the hour. Section 4 is the part that matters.

  • @kenji_ito15:20

The hardest part of a small team is deciding what not to build.

    Translated from Japanese

  • @arun_b15:47AI

Shipped six weeks late. I'd make the same call again.

The difference

Same people. Different ending.

Nothing about who you follow has to change. What changes is whether reading them has a stopping point.

Opening X

  1. Open X to check three people
  2. A recommended post gets there first
  3. Open the replies
  4. Someone quotes it, so you open that too
  5. Scroll
  6. Scroll
  7. Scroll

Forty-five minutes later, you still haven't read the three people.

Opening CalmBird

  1. Open the digest CalmBird sent you
  2. Read the posts you asked for
  3. Reach the end
  4. Close it

Five minutes later, you're done.

How it works

Three decisions, then nothing.

You set it up once. You never connect your X account, and there is no key to paste anywhere.

  1. 01

    Choose who

Add any public X handle. Nothing to authorise, no developer account, no permissions to grant.

  2. 02

    Choose what

Keep only the posts matching your keywords, and have anything in another language translated before it reaches you.

  3. 03

    Choose when

Once a day, or up to six times, inside the hours you pick. Everything new waits for the next digest.

After that, CalmBird only shows up when it has something for you. Then it stops.

Choose what matters

Follow people, not every thought.

You might follow someone for their work and not for their football takes. Give CalmBird a few keywords and only the posts that match are delivered. The rest are quietly dropped.

Keyword filters are part of Pro. Power adds an AI topic tag to every post, so you can browse and filter by subject too. The chips below are live, so try them.

Follow beyond your language

Interesting people don't all post in your language.

CalmBird translates posts before they reach you, so who you follow stops depending on what you read.

Translation is on every plan, including Free. You choose the language, and whether to keep the original next to it.

小さなチームでいちばん難しいのは、何を作らないかを決めることだ。

The hardest part of a small team is deciding what not to build.

Into any of 30 languages.

Where it arrives

Telegram first. Not Telegram only.

Most people read their digest in Telegram, so that is what CalmBird is built around. The other channels are there when you want them.

Telegram

Primary

Your digest arrives as an ordinary Telegram message: readable, quotable, and already on an app you keep open. CalmBird is the service; Telegram is just where it lands.

Send /start to @CalmBirdBot and follow one link. That is the whole setup.

  • Email

A digest in your inbox, grouped by author. Pro and above.

  • Web timeline

The same posts on calmbird.app whenever you feel like looking.

  • Web push

A quiet notification on your devices when a digest lands.

Telegram channels are part of Power. WhatsApp and Discord are planned, not built.

The point

A feed with an ending.

An infinite feed never tells you when you are finished, because finishing is not what it is for. A digest has a last post, and then you are free.

That's it. Go do something else.

EU/EEA accounts aren't available

Following a person based in the EU/EEA may fall under the GDPR (Article 3, territorial scope), so these accounts can't be tracked on CalmBird.

Before you ask

Questions

Do I need an X account?

No. CalmBird follows public accounts by handle and reads their public timelines on your behalf. You never connect, log into or authorise your own X account, so you do not need one at all.

Do I need an API key?

No. There is no developer account to create and nothing to paste. CalmBird handles data access through its own infrastructure.

How often do digests arrive?

It depends on your plan. Some deliver at fixed times, and others let you choose: once, three, four or six times a day, inside the hours you set. Each digest bundles everything new since the last one.

How do I read them in Telegram?

With the normal Telegram app on iOS, Android or desktop. Find @CalmBirdBot, send /start, and follow the link to connect your account.

Can CalmBird translate posts?

Yes, on every plan. Choose a target language and whether to keep the original alongside the translation; posts are translated before they are delivered.

Which accounts can't be tracked?

Accounts based in the EU/EEA. Following a person based there may fall under the GDPR's territorial scope, so CalmBird does not track those accounts. If you add one, CalmBird tells you at that moment rather than silently delivering nothing.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, downgrades at the end of the current billing period. There are no lock-ins and no cancellation fees, and cancelling never deletes your account.

What happens to my data?

CalmBird stores the public posts it fetches and the preferences you set. It never reaches into your personal X account and never sells your data. Delivered content is kept only as long as delivery needs it.
